Police say a suspect with a weapon evaded police near two schools in Carthage. The incident occurred near both Steadley Elementary and Carthage Intermediate Center.
Both schools are part of the Carthage School District.
The incident happened at around 1 p.m., when police attempted to apprehend the suspect, who had a weapon. The suspect began evading police and heading in the direction of the two schools.
The suspect was arrested, and no injuries were reported. The lockdown was lifted shortly after the suspects arrest.
