After several nice days in a row with highs in the 70’s, look for changes to our weather in the Ozarks as we head into the weekend.
The National Weather Service says scattered showers and thunderstorms will push into the area Saturday, but not everyone will see activity that day.
The showers and thunderstorms will be more widespread Sunday evening into Monday morning.
Excessive rainfall is likely for areas along and southeast of Interstate 44, with some locations possibly receiving up to two inches of rain.
Flash flooding will be possible.
Forecasters say we’ll also need to watch for the potential of some strong to severe storms Sunday night, particularly south of Springfield.
A low instability/high shear environment will exist. Strongly veering wind profiles close to the Missouri/Arkansas line may help support storm rotation for a brief period as storms first develop Sunday afternoon and evening.
