Cases of COVID-19 in the Springfield area continue to decline.
The Springfield-Greene County Health Department says the seven day average number of new cases is 201, just two weeks after a record 771 cases per day were reported.
The report also says that flu infections are down, and the county hit its peak late in 2021.
Chief Administrator Officer Erik Frederick of Mercy Hospital says the expectation is that COVID-19 cases in Springfield and Greene County will continue to decline as the Omicron variant dissipates.
COVID-19 hospitalizations in Springfield are starting to go down, with 214 cases on Wednesday after peaking at 254 cases on February 3rd.
