Springfield Public Schools Closing for the Week due to COVID-19 Issues

In a letter to families of Springfield Public Schools, it has been announced that all SPS districts will be closed beginning Wednesday, January 19. Due to a sharp increase in COVID-19 cases among both teachers and students, the number of absences with both groups have led to challenges with remaining teachers and substitutes.

The decision was made after discussion with the Springfield-Greene County Health Department concluded this to be the most practical approach for the protection of students and staff.

SPS hopes to reopen the various schools districts on Monday, January 24.

UPDATE: Willard School District has announced a move to virtual classes for the remainder of the week, and Mountain Grove School District has cancelled classes for the rest of this week as well.
