Governor Parson Considers Calling Special Legislative Session to Challenge President Biden’s COVID-19 Vaccination Mandate

Missouri Governor Mike Parson says the Show-Me State will oppose President Biden’s plan to require COVID-19 vaccinations or testing for many workers on “multiple fronts.”

In an interview with the Kansas City Star, Parson left open the possibility of calling a special legislative session in Jefferson City.

When asked about the President’s mandate-or-testing proposals, Parson said “I don’t plan on letting that happen in Missouri. I think the President is totally wrong on the policy he’s setting forth.”

Parson used the “multiple fronts” statement when asked about whether Missouri’s response to the Biden Administration would involve a lawsuit by Attorney General Eric Schmitt or a special session.

On Friday, the state reported more than 2,500 newly confirmed cases of COVID-19, 20 new deaths, and just over 2,000 hospitalizations.

The number of confirmed cases of the virus in the Springfield-Greene County area continues to go down, with the health department reporting a seven day case average of 58 as of Thursday.

The seven day average hit as high as 236 on July 20th, but has been declining since that peak.

Man Wanted For Murdering Mid-Missouri School Teacher and Her Daughter Found Dead in South Dakota

Story by Brian Hauswirth, 93.9 The Eagle

A mid-Missouri man charged with killing a Fulton teacher and her daughter has been found dead in rural South Dakota, from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. We’ve also confirmed that JT Mclean was wanted for two additional murders in Miller County.

The Union County Sheriff’s office in Elk Point tells 939 the Eagle that the 45-year-old McLean was found dead in a stolen vehicle, from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

McLean, who has several aliases, was charged with two counts of first degree murder for the August deaths of Fulton teacher Allison Abitz and her daughter Jozee.

South Dakota authorities say they were contacted late last night by U-S Marshals, saying that McLean was wanted for four murders: the Abitz killings and two murders in Miller County. South Dakota authorities say McLean was driving a vehicle stolen from one of his murder victims, and ON STAR located that vehicle in a motel parking lot near Dakota Dunes.

Numerous agencies made contact with the motel and located McLean in his vehicle. They include the South Dakota Highway Patrol, Sioux City Police and South Dakota’s Department of Criminal Investigation.

Details about the Miller County murders are unclear. The Eagle has left a phone message for Miller County Sheriff Louie Gregoire. As for the August Boone County murders, court documents indicate that Allison Abitz was strangled, while Jozee was drowned.

The police chief, three officers, and a sergeant have all turned in their resignations, leaving the department with no workers.

Chief Craig Alexander says he’s accepting another job with the Branson West Police Department.

The reasons for the resignations range from current pay to not having qualified officers, to not having a police clerk to help with administrative side of the department.
