Another Republican state senator is running for Southwest Missouri Congressman Billy Long’s seat in the U-S House.
Springfield State Senator Eric Burlison announced his bid for 7th District Congress Wednesday morning on Wake up Springfield with Tim Jones on KWTO.
“This country has never been more lost than we are now,” Burlison said in making the announcement. “We need to get our fiscal house in order.”
Burlison, who is 44, has served Missouri’s 20th Senate District in Greene and Christian Counties since being elected in 2018.
He previously served in the Missouri House of Representatives (133rd District) from 2008 until 2016.
Burlison’s announcement comes just one day after Ash Grove State Senator Mike Moon announced he’s running for Long’s seat.
Long announced last month he’s running for the U-S Senate currently held by Roy Blunt.
Blunt is not running for re-election in 2022.
