Porcupines In Missouri

The Missouri Department of Conservation is warning residents about someone trying to introduce porcupines into the state.

Porcupines are not native to Missouri.

A report from Gentry county of two dogs having a painful encounter with one or more porcupines lead to the warning.

The dogs had to be treated by a vet to remove the porcupine needles.

Conservation officials say that if you see porcupines or other non-native species roaming around your area, to contact the Missouri Department of Conservation.
