Walk-ins Welcome at Mega Vaccination Event in Springfield Thursday and Friday

The Springfield-Greene County Health Department announced Thursday that the mega-vaccination event at Missouri State on Thursday, April 8, and Friday, April 9 will be open to walk-in appointments.

The vaccination event will use the one-dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine, so the event is ONLY for people who have not received a first dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines.

Anyone who is in Phase 1 or 2 can schedule an appointment or walk-in on either of the two days. Because the state is lifting restrictions on April 9, allowing all adult Missourians to get vaccinated, anyone 18 years of age or older can schedule or walk-in on Friday.

Missouri State officials told OI that while walk-ins will be welcome to participate in the vaccination event, those who schedule their appointments ahead of time will be able to get through the process significantly faster. Registration can be done at www.vaccine417.com. Walk-ins are encouraged to call before coming to the site at 417-874-1211.

If you have registered, you do not need to arrive early.

Anyone receiving the vaccine should bring a photo ID and the registration number emailed or provided to them when they scheduled their appointment.

City Utilities will be providing free rides on their buses to the vaccination site. You need to tell the driver you’re going to get vaccinated at the event. You would need to use Line 5 or Line 12 to get to the Hammons Student Center.

Free parking is available in Missouri State Lot 20 & 25, and Bear Park South. You will then check in at Hammons Student Center on the east side of the building between HSC and JQH Arena.
